If you are unemployed and injured, you should not have to worry about the affordability of chiropractic care. If you are looking to take out health insurance after you have been made redundant or if you are unable to find a job, here are the steps you need to take to ensure you are covered for any care that you receive here at Icon Medical.

What Options Are Available to You?

If you do not work, but desperately need to get medical treatment, there are several options open to you. The most popular of these is compensation through Medicaid, which covers Americans that are disabled or have a low income. Although there were previously exceptions on who could apply for Medicaid, these restrictions have now been lifted, ensuring that everyone below the minimum income amount can now qualify for the cover that it provides. If you are over 65 years of age, you may also qualify to receive Medicare coverage.

You can also search for a Marketplace insurance plan that can reduce the costs of your care for pre-existing health conditions and allow you to pay smaller premiums than those who are not eligible. A Marketplace insurance plan allows you to have increased tax credits and can also enable you to save on deductibles and co-payments to ensure that you get the best insurance rate available.

If you are not eligible for either of these options, you should investigate the coverage that is available for those who have recently been laid off, especially if this is due to a medical condition. For instance, plans under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) may allow you to continue receiving the coverage that was previously offered to you by your employer, while you may also be eligible to continue receiving worker’s compensation if you have been injured at work and if this has led to your eventual unemployment.

How Do You Apply for These Helpful Insurance Options?

To apply for any of these options and to find out if you qualify for Marketplace insurance and Medicaid, you need to find an agent or broker in your area through the government’s healthcare website. You can also apply for care through an approved partner, and these include services such as insurance companies. If you want to take your application into your own hands, then you have a few different options which include applying for healthcare insurance online, sending a paper application through the mail, and contacting the Marketplace insurance scheme by telephone.

However, before you apply for these, you should check the requirements and the application process with your state, as some states have individual marketplaces that you need to apply through if you are considering insurance through the Affordable Care Act.

Everyone deserves to get the medical treatment that they need, and there is no reason why you cannot receive chiropractic care from Icon Medical if you are unemployed. If you talk to your past employer and start applying for schemes in advance (with some applications already closed for 2020), there is no reason why you cannot get the same level of care as everyone else.
